Amrisha Sparrow

Diet to Live, Diet to Die

Amrisha Sparrow is an intuitive designer, an inspirational inventor; she designs landscapes and clothes, creates art and invents recipes.  She has a diploma in architecture and lives in San Jose with her son, mom, a dog and a cat.

Amrisha has a rebellious spirit. In her childhood she envied the boys: they had all the fun and the girls had to behave. She did the only reasonable thing and became a tomboy. Amrisha ran faster, jumped higher, and punched harder than the boys did. She loved her city and the people around her.

Adolescence, curving her body into that of a young woman, hit her by surprise, detracting from her boyishness uncompromisingly. Living in a Muslim country and being an attractive blond made her life a challenge. Her unruly attitude could cost her life, and she became cagey. The years she spent living her life reserved, pretending to be someone she was not, and fitting in with the superficial rules and insincere games of society was the most arduous time in her life. Her nature was screaming with protest, but after many harsh lessons, she learned to be obedient.

Later on, living in the US, going through new experiences, participating in spiritual and not so spiritual workshops, making new friends, relentlessly searching for that special way, ‘the way,’ shaped her vision and understanding of life. By learning to be vulnerable, that is, to be herself, she rediscovered her true feminine nature, her passion and desires. She is going through a very special transformation in her life right now.

Amrisha's first book, NW Recipes (Working Title) is scheduled for release in 2013. Learn more about the book: NW recipes
